NIGERIA and Dream killers ~ Oludare Lasisi.
There is no hope for a better tomorrow in NIGERIA. That's just the raw reality.
You're free to call me an unrepentant pessimist or say I am not a patriot.
Straight to my points, I just spent 23 days in NIGERIA and I witnessed many things. I discussed issues and exchanged ideas with ordinary people on the street. I entered the public transport to listen to the daily struggles of fellow Nigerians. I am speaking the harsh reality on ground not just propaganda against any government.
In NIGERIA of today, it's very hard to see majority of people uniting against Illegalities.
You will surely still see supporters of evils around you who are ready to use one absurdity to validate another abnormality.
For example, look at the revolutionary initiative of Chief Sunday "Igboho" Adeyemo who recently declared "Fatwa" against the marauding nomads, rapists, assassins and kidnappers in Yoruba land.
I am not sounding as an atheist, but I wish to know the importance of prayers in Nigeria since 1960. Most Nigerians are hypocritically religious with dirty minds.
Many wealthy people are not ready to empower children of the poor people. They prefer them to become permanent slaves, even to their grandchildren.
That's the bitter truth, you're free to pretend and scream, "It's well".
"You don't always behave as if you're from Europe. You're always down to earth, freestyling, and ready to mix freely with people."
A friend recently told me those words and I laughed. Even if I spend 100 years in Oyinbo countries, I am still a Black man. I hate any fake lifestyle. I am a realist. If I mess up "big time"(God forbids!) in a foreign country, Oyinbo people would trace me to my village in Nigeria and probably kick me out of the country!
What's the big deal of living in a foreign country when we can all fix our country of origin?
I saw many beggars, homeless people, mentally unstable people, drug addicts and destitutes on the streets in Nigeria. No rehabilitation. No medical treatment. Nothing from charity/religious organizations, civil societies, or government. Are we really serious as a country? Maybe I was unfortunately born in a wrong country.
With this present "chop-chop" political system in NIGERIA, feel free to pray from today until next 100 years. Don't expect to see any miracle. Quote me today.
Malcolm X once said education is the only passport to the future.
NIGERIA is rich enough to offer 100 % free primary and secondary school education to all Nigerian children.
Let the brilliant children proceed to the Universities on government scholarships/bursaries. It's possible. We don't need "career" prayer warriors to make it happen.
Many talented, vibrant and energetic Nigerians cannot achieve their dreams and goals in life due to wicked government policies intentionally designed to frustrate hardworking and responsible citizens.
I am just a single individual in a foreign country, not yet a multi-millionaire person. I also need help from God and human beings. That's the bitter truth.
How many people can I assist on Facebook when I also have personal challenges to face? Only me dey abroad on Facebook? I just dey ask ni oooo.
I over-stressed myself financially(as a University student in Scotland) during this Covid-19 lockdown to assist many Facebook friends. Nothing to do with blowing one's trumpet.
That's the failure of greedy 'Oloriburuku" Nigerian politicians who intentionally kept the palliatives in warehouses while many people were going through starvation and hunger.
Many Nigerian politicians have investments and properties in Europe and America, and now currently moving to United Arab Emirates.(Dubai, Sharjah, & Abu Dhabi).
As Tupac once sang, "They don't give a fu*k about ordinary people on the streets."
To cut the long story short, all the responsible Nigerians planning to travel to foreign countries to search for better opportunities(not to become criminals and tarnish the image of the country!), your visas shall be granted as urgent as possible.
Dele Giwa once said, "Poverty is only good in sermons but very bad in practice."
To be honest, I tasted raw poverty while growing up in Nigeria and never again for me, children and grandchildren.
I struggled against all odds to reach this stage in life. Feel free to appreciate or laugh at me. It's a free world. Ko kan Aye!
Plenty words no go full basket. As Ayinla Anigilaje Omowura once sang....Mo duro ni ibi oo apoju oro lo n di ija sile...boya a wi die boya aye won.
To be continued....
